Understanding my clinical approach:

The thoughts we think, the stories that we tell ourselves, the ways in which we talk to ourselves, greatly impact our well being & how we respond to our experiences and to the world around us.

Difficult life experiences, exposure to trauma, substance use and mental health issues can cause us to become critical of ourselves and others as a means to feel safe and to feel in control when the world around us may feel very out of control. Over time, this negative self talk and can wear us down and bury our true nature, even keeping us disconnected from others.

Together, we will work to explore the messages you learned as a child and as an adult, that have shaped the beliefs that you now hold about yourself and the world. We will work to investigate if these beliefs are helpful and true and if they support your happiness and well being. We will examine ways to move through difficult times in life with greater self compassion while allowing for imperfection, growth, forgiveness, grace and understanding in times of great difficulty and in times of joy.

The healing comes from letting there be room for all of this to happen: room for grief, for relief, for misery, for joy.
